Rihanna
Rihanna. February 20th 1988. Singer. Philanthropist. Chameleon. Pisces.

This Caribbean queen shot to fame in 2006, and wasted no time in starting a foundation for terminally ill children, “Believe Foundation”. She also participated in many fundraising concerts.

“When I was young and I would watch television and I would see all the children suffering, I always said: when I grow up, I want to help.”

She’s honest and all about grabbing the bull by the horns.

“Life’s too short to be sitting around miserable. And people gonna talk whether you’re doing bad or good.”

Jack White
Jack White. July 9th 1975. Singer/songwriter/musician. Record Producer. Cancer.

Young Jack White was unsure of his future. He almost became a Catholic priest and then an upholsterer (he was known for writing poetry inside the furniture) before finding his way to music. He consciously puts obstacles in his path to keep him sharp.

“Deadlines and things make you creative. But opportunity and telling yourself: “Oh, you have all the time in the world, all the money in the world. You have all the colors in the palette you want. Anything you want. I mean, that just kills creativity.”

He also believes that you have to do your own leg work if you want to get where you want to be.

“All of us need to self-promote. We cannot sit back and wait for our gallery or rep to do it all.”

Chloe Sevigny
Chloë Sevigny. November 18th 1974. Actress. Model. Fashion designer/icon. Scorpio.

When she was a teenager, Chloë shaved her head and sold her hair to a Broadway wigmaker. Later on, the rest of her also ended up in NYC, where she got her start in modeling. She marches to the beat of her own drum and isn’t afraid of doing something outrageous in the name of art.

“I’d like to be more approachable, not less weird.”

She does take her art seriously, however…

“For some reason the public has embraced me as a fashion icon, and I feel like it has diminished me as an actress. Or I don’t get as much recognition as an actress — and that upsets me.”

For some reason, I don’t think she should worry about this.
