Before I begin, I must address a few things:
It’s commonly known to those who follow the zodiac that there are twelve different signs with each sign divided amongst four elements, earth wind, fire and water. With a little math, that means each of the four elements contains three signs that inhabit their little elemental sector. These three signs are fundamental representations of each element, reflecting upon these characteristics in varying degrees. Now with that in mind, when we look at the three water signs, in order of occurrence, Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces, you get a since of the shared similarities. The same can be said for the earth signs: Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn. The air signs: Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius; and finally the fire signs: Aries, Sagittarius, and Leo.
If you flip through any book on astrology or peruse through the countless number of websites dedicated to the subject, you’ve at some point been told that there are signs more compatible to you then others. Although these associations are pretty general, the best assertion is that you naturally get along with your own elements and get along with your elemental counterpart. More specifically, water compliments/counters earth, and air compliments/counters fire. There are many other things to consider when looking into the various relationships we have with each other astrologically, but regardless there is one pairing that will always be the best or as many may have you assume the worse. The pairing that I speak of is what I like to call your “Mirror Sign” or more specifically the sign that resides directly across from you on the astrological wheel or even more specifically the sign 6 places after yours.
To Help you out:
Aries-Libra
Taurus- Scorpio
Gemini- Sagittarius
Leo- Aquarius
Virgo- Pisces
Cancer- Capricorn
THIS IS WHERE I GET TO MY POINT:
Since we are approaching the end of the zodiac pinwheel and life returns to the northern hemisphere as we leave Pisces and head into Aires bringing with them the Vernal Equinox and the joys of spring; I want to start here at the end since I feel that Pisces doesn’t get much attention. I mean, Pisces doesn’t exactly get the best wrap, it barely gets enough days on the calendar and its astrological representation is two fish tethered together swimming in opposite directions. Anyone who has dealt with one regularly understands how this representation is eerily accurate and they generally tend to disregard the Pisces man or woman then appreciate their complexity.
So I begin with Pisces and therefore begin also with Virgo, Pisces compliment or as some would say opposing sign. I personally like labeling such relationships as “mirror signs,” because for me the personalities of signs that fall opposite on the zodiac wheel are like looking in the mirror. Everything is exactly the same but the image of you is reflected showing your qualities as opposite; Pisces is a reflection of Virgo, Virgo is a reflection of Pisces. Another way to look at it is coming to a fork in the road, each path will lead to exactly the same destination, but in this case Pisces would choose one path and Virgo chooses the other.
In brief Pisces is, as mentioned before, an overlooked sign but you generally know when you’ve run into one. Usually it’s that person dressed like an art student or the lead singer of an Indie (insert secondary genre) band, because they are an art student or some other version of a creative person; if they aren’t they still will look like they are. For Pisces is all about being carefree, coming behind the mark left by Aquarius there’s little left for them to change or inspire, so they stick up for the underdog, cry on your behalf during times of need, then run off into the world of fantasy and whimsy that they reside in. Their zodiac personification is two fish swimming in opposite directions tethered together by rope, so don’t be surprised by a Pisces that is indecisive or appears to be coming and going at the same time; it is apart of their nature and takes a strong will to oppose these tendencies.

Then there is Virgo, personified by the virgin or maiden with a bird. I don’t get the bird per say but if it has anything to do with their dominion over domesticated animals, then I guess I can let it slide. The Virgo, like Pisces can be overlooked, but more so due to their tendency towards being shy and introverted, although I question this personification. If you pay close attention, a lot of popular celebrities fall under this category. Like Pisces you can spot a Virgo through dress, usually it’s the person who’s clothing is properly tailored and efficient, or their choice in fashion is so creatively combined that it will lead to swift replication immediately after. When you see a Virgo attempting to dress down, even their attempts at looking disheveled still appear meticulous. For Virgo it’s all about order, refinement and reserve; seriously who can blame them riding in on the coat tails of those Leo show boaters. The Virgo is critical, more so on themselves than others, but you may find this hard to believe after encountering one.

Now comparing the two signs to each other their contradictions are very clear. Pisces is compassionate, idealistic, imaginative and carefree, while Virgo is overcritical, practical, analytical, and reliable. They both however are creative individuals, self-sacrificing, whose attributes towards humanity can be equated to a sense of refinement, Pisces through internal realization and Virgo through external. While Virgo differentiates and categorizes and Pisces destructs and makes abstract, these two work well with each other. If they learn that each other sees opposite ends of the spectrum than their combined efforts will only create the harmony they both seek. What leads to opposition between these two signs is their unwillingness to accept that the other is the result of what they are trying to not be, and how the opposition’s attitude isn’t as horrific as they’ve led themselves to believe. Order is fine Virgo, but without chaos how can you define order. Pisces a bit of perfection and practicality can only do you justice in regards to fulfilling your imaginative ideals.
In the end Pisces the only one who would naturally get along with you is Virgo; secretly I believe its because they deep down still want to fix you, but I digress. Virgo, Pisces is probably the only sign that is willing to put up with you if you’re too, dare I say, Virgo but that’s probably because they believe that one day you’ll crack and reveal your inner squishy center. Although on some level Capricorn seems to be the only sign that understands Virgo, but that’s mainly because there’s little difference between the two. I think somewhere along the line someone got lazy and recycled a few things but spiced Capricorn up with a bit more ambition and pessimism. Pisces, I would say the same goes for you and Cancer, the same spiel but spiced up with darker characteristics like, shrewdness and clinginess.

I am a piscis, and I am madely in love with a virgo man we have been together on and off for 7 years, H ow can I get this man to settle down with me and marry me and I want to understand him more- can vigos be earth and water, beause I red thst we were oppsies as well,
The best advice I can offer is to not push the matter. As a pisces you give your all to those you hold dear; and the same can be said for Virgos. However Virgos have a tendency to back away when cornered or pressured; they don’t handle stress very well. My suggestion is to let him come around, maybe drop a hint or two just to let him know where your mindset is. Try testing the waters and see how he responds. As far as an earth sign also being water, depends on his birth chart. He may have elements in his chart that are water which can be why you feel that he’s more of a water sign than an earth sign. Is either of his parents water signs? I’m strong believer that the signs of your parents also have great influence over how your birth sign behaves. And again earth signs and water signs are opposites and a lot of their ways overlap, its just the approach that is different.
